Ensuring our services are accessible to everyone, today and tomorrow.

1. Policy Statement

Succession Ontario is committed to providing its programs, services, and information in a way that respects the dignity and independence of all individuals, including persons with disabilities. We strive to ensure equal access and participation, and to meet the principles of dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity in all aspects of our operations.

This policy aligns with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), and reflects our ongoing commitment to improving accessibility across our organization and digital platforms.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all Succession Ontario employees, contractors, volunteers, and agents who provide goods, services, or information on behalf of the organization.

3. Commitment to Accessible Services

Succession Ontario is dedicated to:

  • Delivering services that are accessible to all individuals, including persons with disabilities.
  • Communicating with people in ways that consider their accessibility needs.
  • Providing training to all staff and volunteers on AODA requirements and the Ontario Human Rights Code as it pertains to persons with disabilities.
  • Ensuring that feedback processes, customer service, and communication channels are accessible upon request.

4. Feedback and Inquiries

Feedback regarding the accessibility of our services is welcomed, including any digital or technical barriers encountered on our website or documents. Feedback helps identify barriers and supports continuous improvement in accessibility.

Where possible, feedback will be addressed immediately. If more time is required, a response will be provided within 21 business days.

5. Availability and Alternative Formats

Succession Ontario will provide documents, communication materials, and website content in accessible or alternative formats upon request. Examples include large print, plain text, and accessible digital formats. Requests can be made by contacting info@successionontario.ca.

6. Website and Digital Accessibility

Succession Ontario is committed to ensuring that its website and digital materials comply with the Ontario Government Accessibility Standard for Information and Communications.

Efforts include:

  • Structuring web pages with clear headings and alternative text for images.
  • Ensuring keyboard navigation and screen reader compatibility.
  • Regularly reviewing and testing content for accessibility compliance.

 

6.1 Third Party Digital Tools and Embedded Content

Succession Ontario uses third-party tools, platforms, and embedded content (e.g., video players). While these components are not fully under our control, we will make reasonable efforts to select and use third-party technologies that support accessibility and align with WCAG standards.

7. Training and Continuous Improvement

All staff and volunteers who interact with the public or develop digital content receive accessibility training. This includes:

  • Understanding AODA legislation and standards.
  • Learning inclusive communication practices.
  • Identifying and addressing barriers to access.


Succession Ontario will review and update this policy regularly to ensure ongoing compliance with AODA and evolving accessibility best practices.
